Namaqua Flower Tour This tour is available from August to October. Day 1 - Cape Town to Pater Noster Guests are met after breakfast at a location of their choice in Cape Town for an early start. From here we leave the city and head north for West Coast National Park. On the way we stop in Darling district at Tienie Versfeld Reserve and take in the beauty of the flowering bulbs found here. We enjoy some refreshment amongst the beautiful flowers and continue to the Westcoast National Park. We head for the Postberg section (only open in August and September) where we enjoy the endangered Bontebok, Cape Mountain Zebras, Wildebeest, Eland and other wild animals grazing amongst the fantastic show of flowers. We enjoy a picnic lunch in these peaceful surroundings. With luck we can also do some Whale watching from the lookout point. After leaving the Reserve we continue up the coast overnighting in one of the quaint villages. Overnight: Pater Noster area Day 2 - Pater Noster to Nieuwoudtville After breakfast, we take a drive past the fishing villages of St Helena Bay and Port Owen to the oldest town in the country, Clanwilliam. If our timing is right, we can go to the Clamwilliam Annual Flower Show and enjoy the stunning displays of indigenous flowers in the Old DRC Church. Afterwards we can buy our lunch at one of the stalls and enjoy a walk through Ramskop Flower Reserve. Our journey continues to Nieuwoudville where we book in at our accommodation, our home for the next two nights. Overnight: Nieuwoudtville farm stay Day 3 - Nieuwoudville Today we have breakfast early as there is much to see in the area. We visit the Nieuwoudtville Waterfall and then proceed to the southern-most Quiver tree forest in the world. We make our way back to Nieuwoudtville and visit some of the numerous flower reserves in the area depending on local recommendations at that time. Included in these will be the Glacial Floor and Matjiesfontein Padstal. A light lunch will be enjoyed along the route. If we still have time in hand, a visit to the local Dutch Reformed church which is built of sanstone and has been proclaimed a national monument is a must. We return to our accommodation in time to freshen up before our dinner and can enjoy a sundowner. Overnight: Nieuwoudtville farm stay Day 4 - Nieuwoudville to Clanwilliam After breakfast, we head in the direction of Clanwilliam. On the way we visit a bushman art site set in the Cedarberg Mountain range. There are numerous bushman paintings on this walking trail which takes about three hours and is really worth the visit. We enjoy a picnic lunch on the trail or back at the vehicle depending on timing. We return to Clanwilliam and book into our accommodation in the area with time to relax and freshen up before our dinner. Overnight: Clanwilliam Day 5 - Clanwilliam to Cape Town Today, after a leisurely breakfast, we head back to Cape Town; on the way down the N7 we take the turnoff to Porterville where we enjoy a light lunch at a suitable spot. Here we search for Disa Lillies. The rare yellow Disa Lily as well as the Red Disa are endemic to the area. From here we head for Cape Town and drop you off at a place of your choice where we say our goodbyes, until we meet again. Meals: Breakfast and Lunch.
